About Us
Kippy's Cottage has been in our family for generations. My great great grandfather bought this cottage just after WWII to retire in.
The cottage is named after him as he had a knack of being able to grab short kips throughout the day and therefore his nickname was Kippy!
We have kept the cottage in the family ever since and have now enjoyed holidays over four generations.
Kippy's Cottage's Location:
The cottage overlooks the inner harbour off Brixham from the south side providing an incredible view of the working trawler quay with Brixhams outer harbour with Torbay coastline in the distance.
The famous 'Golden Hind' Pirate ship that sits in the harbour is in full view from Kippy's Cottage.
Kippy's is conveniently located as it is only a short walk to the high street, shops, Inns, fish restaurants, harbour facilities and the nearby Breakwater beach.
The Breakwater with lighthouse, Shoalstone Lido, Fishcombe Cove, Marina and Berry Head all with in walking distance.
You can sit in the front sitting room window and look out over the harbour whilst enjoying a relaxing cup of tea or drink of your choice.
Kippy's also has a grandstand view of all the boating activities in the harbour and Torbay.
You can also sit in the garden and enjoy the views of the coastline in the sunshine.
On a clear day the views are wonderful and can stretch as far as Exmouth!
Brixham is located only a short drive away from Goodrington Sands, Paignton and Torquay.
Another interesting visit in the local area is the delightful town of Dartmouth which can be accessed via two ferries on the River Dart from the Kingswear side, or from the road via Totnes.
Further on again, is Blackpool Sands, a marvellous beach, and on again is Slapton Sands where the Normandy landings were rehearsed in WW2.
To the north is Dartmoor, with its stunning scenery and famous tors.
The historic port of Plymouth is about 30 miles west with Plymouth Hoe, Devonport naval dockyard and its extensive range of shops.
Please bring your binoculars and crabbing gear for hours of fun with the children!
